Buenos Aires, December 8 (NA) – National deputy-elect for La Libertad Avanza, Luis Petri, presented his resignation as Minister of Defense, a position he has held since December 10, 2023, in a farewell letter addressed to President Javier Milei. Regarding this, he assured that it “will be an honor forever.” In the letter, which he disseminated through social media, the outgoing official detailed the reasons for his resignation, reviewed the highlights of his tenure, and anticipated his role as second vice president of the lower house. “I address you to present my resignation as Minister of Defense of the Nation, effective as of December 9, 2025. As you always remind us: we have come to change Argentina definitively,” he emphasized. “I also want to recognize the commitment and professionalism of the team that accompanied me at the Ministry, the Joint Chiefs of Staff, and each of the Armed Forces. I salute them with my highest consideration. May God bless you and all Argentines!” Petri concluded. We formed a true team under his leadership, facing the problems dragged by for decades, not passing the buck, not making excuses, and solving them thinking about the present and future generations, regardless of the political costs that the pettiness of a sector of the opposition may try to make us pay. It will be engraved in my memory and heart to have served as Minister of Defense during your Presidency. The mission is accomplished, Commander in Chief: the F-16s are already on our soil and belong to all Argentines,” he highlighted. Finally, he announced that this Tuesday he will travel to Antarctica to give closure to his cycle at the Ministry of Defense. “On December 9 I will be traveling to Antarctica, where I practically began this management alongside you. Argentina, under your leadership, will be the freest country in the world, and by being so, we will stop being that Nation at the end of the world to become the country at the beginning of the world. That beginning is in our beloved Antarctica, where since 1904 military personnel and scientists have been building the Fatherland and allowing our country to be the one with the most bases and the greatest projection,” he pointed out. “I reiterate my immense respect, my infinite gratitude, and my pride for having accompanied you in your Cabinet, as well as my commitment to the ideas of freedom that are making Argentina great again. Thanks to your constant support, we were able to undertake reforms that for years seemed impossible and to return to military and civilian personnel the pride of belonging to Armed Forces respected and valued by society, but canceled by the previous kirchnerist governments,” he considered.
